Kerala’s active Film Societies have been an integral in popularisation of the film to the masses.  The Academy has demonstrated immense interest in strengthening the network of film societies by awarding grants to individuals  affiliated with FFSI. Futhermore,the Academy partners with the film societies in organising film festivals, seminars, discussions and film appreciation courses.
