2014 IFFK’s Film Market for the Promotion of Malayalam Cinema The Chalachitra Academy this year has introduced a Film Market section which aims to facilitate and promote
Malayalam cinema. The intention is to identify quality Malayalam cinema that has the content and appeal to access international markets and film festivals, and films that have the
potential to gain greater access to distribution within Kerala and all of India. IFFK’s Film Market would like to explore and expand a wider reach for Malayalam cinema, which currently
has a restricted audience.
Starting this year, IFFK’s Film Market has taken eighteen recent Malayalam films. These 18 films will be viewed by a select international jury. The jury will decide which among
these films have a marketable potential to be promoted globally. The final films named by the jury will then be eligible for promotion by the State forum through the Chalachitra
Academy at home and abroad.
IFFK Market Jury
The jury members have been chosen with a IFFK Market objective and intent. The eminent names are from different countries and continents outside of India, and hence they ensure that the 18 films are viewed from an international perspective. All of them are from the international film fraternity and are known for their commitment to quality cinema that finds a place on the film festival scene.

IFFK is introducing the Film Market this year with the objective of making this section and area an interactive space where filmmakers, producers, exhibitors, distributors and like-minded professionals can meet and network with one another. The Film Market aims to facilitate the getting-together of Market delegates and visitors.
There will be an Open Market where filmmakers/producers can informally screen their films to interested parties.
Should our delegates from abroad and within India want to see a particular Malayalam film, the Film Market team will help in accessing the film and making arrangements to view it at the Film Market.
The Film Market team will help where possible with requests for meetings and providing information on specific films.
Panel discussions are also planned. There are three listed in the Film Market calendar.
December 14 “Guidelines for Marketing the Malayalam Independent Cinema.’’
December 16 “Crowd funding and the Film Festival scene.”
December 17 “Guneet Monga on Festivals and the Marketing Process.”
