Centre for International Film Research and Archives (CIFRA) 

Kerala Chalachitra Academy aims to protect the rich heritage of Malayalam cinema for the future generation through Centre for International Film Research and Archives (CIFRA) which is situated inside the KINFRA campus in Kazhakkuttom, Thiruvananthapuram. The well- equipped building houses a research library and Digital Archives with more than 10,000 Indian and foreign films, film related books, mini -theatre, conference hall and offices space for Chalachitra Academy. Conceptualised as a memorial for yesteryear actor Sathyan, the new initiative was inaugurated by Hon'ble Chief Minister Sri.Pinarayi Vijayan on 21st November, 2018 in the presence of a host of dignitaries, including veteran artists Madhu and Sreekumaran Thampi.  Hon'ble  Minister for Culture Sri.A.K Balan who presided over the function, inaugurated the mini theatre named after Ramu Kariat, the legendary filmmaker. Sri. Kadakampally Surendran,  Hon'ble Minister for Co-operation, Tourism and Devaswoms inaugurated the Conference Hall. Sri.E.P Jayarajan,  Hon'ble Minister for Industries, Sports and Youth Affairs inaugurated the P.K Nair Library and Archives. The building's inauguration also coincides with the 90th anniversary of Malayalam cinema and the 20th year of establishment of the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy.
